Portuguese Experiences
PORTUGUESE EXPERIENCES
ALGARVE & ANDALUSIA
River Guadiana delimits the frontier between Spain and Portugal, a place where we can discover both cultures, delimited by a great international bridge. We suggest you the visit of two monumental cities, one per country: Tavira and Ayamonte. Displacements will be on coach and visits on foot, but the cross of river Guadiana will be carried out by ferry from Vilareal de Santo Antonio to Ayamonte.
FORMOSA ESTUARY
Ria Formosa Natural Park is one of the most exciting protected natural spaces of Portugal, located in the south of the country. It covers Sotavento’s Coast in the Algarve, which is characterized by its large sandy beaches and the presence of isles between salted marshes. In fact, this estuary is the result of the different islands which were formed near the coastal villages like Olhao and Faro, Tavira…
WESTERN ALGARVE: LOULE & ALBUFEIRA
Within the Algarve, you can get surprised with all kind of corners that this area hides; from the most humble orchards of figs, almonds and carob, to the most unbelievable cliffs. The coastal side of this southern region is divided in two different parts: Sotavento’s and Barlovento’s Coast, which is outlined by cliffs and rocks which will let us discover its small coves of crystalline water. We invite you to discover the heart of the last one in the centre of Loulé, where we will have some free time to know its curious food market. After that, we will head for to Albufeira, a very touristic village where its views over cliffs will leave you breathless.
GUADIANA'S VALLEY
Guadiana is the fourth longest river of the Iberian Peninsula, bordering on the last stretch between Spain and Portugal. This area is protected as Natural Park due to its excellent environmental wealth. We will discover Mértola, a village based on charming Portuguese traditional houses located on a hill on the banks of the river. We invite you to discover its streets, its medieval castle and its original church. Afterwards, we will continue southwards to visit another Portuguese village, Alcoutim, located on the banks of the river as well, and in front of the wonderful Spanish town of Sanlúcar de Guadiana. Be surprised by the exciting places hidden in Vale do Guadiana.
